On route to Asunción, the plane carrying Cyrus’s crew, band, friends, and family was caught in a major storm system and struck by lightning, causing it to make an emergency landing. Cyrus uploaded a video of the storm outside her plane window (plus a photo of where the plane was struck by lightning), which she captioned with a brief explanation of what happened. She also reassured her fans that she and her loved ones are safe.

“To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción,” Cyrus said. “Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay. 💔 I LOVE YOU.”
