Selena Gomez’s First Glam Selfie of 2022 Features a Lob and the Dreamiest Cat Eye

Selena Gomez went back to work yesterday and makeup artist Hung Vanngo let everyone see her first glam look of 2022. It paired Gomez’s chocolate lob with a smokey cat-eye and glossy nude mauve lips.

Vanngo listed the Rare Beauty products used to create the look, including the line’s new bronzer (in a shade sold out, for now) and setting powder.

The shot came shortly before Gomez’s new interview with People was released today. She spoke candidly to the publication about how she feels turning 30 in July. She’s genuinely excited: “I love growing up,” Gomez said. “When I was younger, I was scared of it, and I thought by now my life would look so different. But now I’m like, ‘Wow, this is not what I ever expected, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.’ I’ve stopped caring about what people have to say, and that’s been wonderful.”

The former Disney star spoke to ELLE.com and other reporters recently about how her relationship with her own beauty has changed as she’s gotten older. She struggled in the past to embrace it, she admitted.

“I’ve been in makeup since I was seven years old. I feel like that kind of messed with me,” she said. “You’re so young and then working. I have professionals doing my makeup and suddenly I can look 25 when I was 16, and it was crazy. Then I felt like, ‘Oh, I look too young all the time. I should achieve that look more. I should try that.’ It just made me question my beauty for what it was.”

When conceptualizing Rare Beauty, Gomez wanted to create a brand for those who have had similar feelings of self-doubt. “I’ve been a victim to wanting to change my face and do things because I see such like intense trends,” she continued. “I think the most rewarding part of creating this line is that we create a place for people who don’t necessarily want to get work done or change their face. They just want to embrace what they are and what they have.”
