When the sun is blazing and you are spending your days out and about on the beach, you might think that make up is going to be the last thing on your mind, but for so many looking great on the beach is just as important as looking great off of it.

Here are some great tips for what to pop into your summer beach make up bag, so your make up not only looks great but is long lasting too.

 

Face Primer:

Getting yourself a good face primer is an absolute must for all make up  looks, but especially so when it comes to creating a face fit for the beach. The beach is hot, sandy and wet and the last thing you want is for your make up to start sliding off of your face as the day progresses. A good primer will help to keep the rest of your make up in place, no matter what a day at the beach throws at you. Protecting your skin while in the sunshine is one of the most important things you can do, so be sure to select either a face primer or BB cream with SPF in it. Normal SPF is not formulated for your face (although you can pick up special ones which are appropriate for your face) so finding a primer, BB cream or foundation with SPF included helps to keep your face protected whenever you are out in the sunshine.

 

Pro tip: Off of the beach, if you are going to be photographed a lot be sure to select a foundation without SPF. SPF can cause “Flashback” in flash photography, making your face appear a ghostly white in all photos.

 

BB Cream:

BB Cream is a great option for beach days as it is somewhat lighter than foundation, and should you end up swimming, where even the best the BB creams and primer’s would struggle to keep your make up on your face, it is easy to apply again if you only have a small compact mirror with you or without the need for a mirror at all.

 

Pro tip: As mentioned above, a BB Cream with SPF is great for days when you are going to be out and about in the sunshine, as it will protect your face from the suns harmful rays without the need for you to buy an additional SPF.

 

Waterproof mascara:

When you are spending days on the beach this summer it is only natural for you to come into contact with the elements, along with the chances of sweating, meaning a waterproof mascara is going to be essential for looking your best while on the beach.

 

Pro tip: Avoid the stress of removing waterproof mascara by selecting a make-up remover which claims to even remove waterproof mascara. Alternatively, for a longer term solution, fake eyelashes will look brilliant and last much longer.
