Is your wardrobe looking a bit drab? Have many neutrals and darker colors, but want to add something a bit brighter? Wearing neon clothing to work isn’t always appropriate, and there aren’t many situations where bright clothing calls out to us. However, it looks like neon is going to be one of the biggest trends of the next year, so it might be something you want to add where you can.
Here are a few places to get started:
Across Your Neck
If you like to stick to basics in your wardrobe, then adding some brightly colored or neon jewelry to your wardrobe can be a fantastic way to spice it up a little bit. Neon colors tend to be in plastic, resin, or metallic accents, so you can usually find them for a deal. Sometimes it takes a bit more time to find something that is appropriate but go with other tried and true methods, like bangles or monogrammed necklaces.
For Comfort
We aren’t always at work, which means that there are times when brightly colored clothing is appropriate. Take the weekends as a chance to wear brightly colored leggings or even neon sweaters that are at once stylish but still extremely comfortable. Go for a looser design so that you don’t look like you are making loungewear look like clubwear.
At the Office
Want to wear bright colors in a professional setting? Make sure that whatever you wear is of extremely high quality, is in good shape, and has the right cut. There are plenty of designers out there who are building sweaters, twinsets, skirts, and more in brighter colors, you’ll just have to do some searching on your own.
On Your Lips
Neon lipsticks came back a little while ago and they don’t seem to be disappearing anytime soon. Go for a neon lipstick or liquid lip that stays in place and won’t wear off except for around the edges. In order to do this, you want to have a high-quality lipstick that you can trust. Start with corals and reds before moving into the purples or even bolder colors.
To Soften Your Style
Using neon is also a great way to add some whimsy to your wardrobe and maybe even tone down a style that is a little too hard for your liking. Neon boots, belts, and even studs exist and can help you to feel like you are staying true to yourself while embracing the neon trend.
Neon is difficult to work with at first, especially for people who work in a professional setting or aren’t used to wearing neon. Start by pairing it with black or white and then move out from there.
