With the wedding almost here, the family is in from out of town and everything is ready to go the final thing to do before the wedding is the rehearsal dinner. Traditionally held as a trial run for the big day, the rehearsal dinner is held the night before the wedding and is a great opportunity for the families to mingle outside of the formal setting of the wedding day.

 

Bride to be & Groom

The bride to be and groom will both be centre of attention at the rehearsal dinner and you will both want to look as though you are the centre of attention too. Presuming you, as the bride, will be wearing white on the big day you may want either wear a white dress to make you stand out as the bride. Alternatively you might want to choose something in a block color, such as a little black dress or something more colorful. Style wise you will want to dress for your body shape, but a fit and flare dress with a pair of heels is a perfect outfit for a formal gathering. For the groom a simple suit will work, you will want to look smart without compromising what you might be wearing for the wedding the next day. Stay away from a suit in the same color as your wedding suit and for a tie stay away from anything that is similar to the color scheme of your wedding.

 

Maid of Honor & Bridesmaids

The maid of honor and bridesmaids job on both the wedding day and at the rehearsal dinner is not to upstage the bride and therefore you will want to know ahead of time what the bride is planning on wearing to the rehearsal dinner. You will also want to ensure that you set yourself apart from the guests. Try a similar color block dress in a different color to the bride or possibly a shift dress which will suit almost all body shapes.

 

Best man & Ushers

Similarly to the groom a simple suit will work for the rehearsal dinner and you will want to try and steer clear from anything that is similar to the suit you and the groomsmen will be wearing at the wedding as well as staying away from the wedding color scheme too.

 

Wedding guests

If you have an invite to the rehearsal dinner and you are not part of the main wedding party then you will fall under the category of guest. For guests invited to the rehearsal dinner you will want to dress so as not to draw attention away from the wedding party, but you do not need to worry too much, just wear what you find comfortable but remember to save your best colorful dress for the wedding day itself.
