Ruffles, Ruffles, and More Ruffles – 5 Ways to Bring the Trend Home
One of the newest trends we keep seeing popping up this spring? Ruffles! It might seem a bit strange, especially since many of us spent our childhood days trying to eliminate them from our wardrobes completely. Still, ruffles have been shown on all of the runways and are appearing on many different pieces that you should absolutely have in your wardrobe.
A little afraid to try it? Here are a few ways to add more to your closet:
As a Pop on Sporty Clothing
Want to add ruffles to something but not look overly feminine? For some people, adding ruffles to a sporty look is the best compromise. For example, some sneakers have ruffles that make them a little more appropriate for certain situations or even leggings are adding ruffles.
While Swimming
Want to hide a problem area while you are enjoying the beach? Want to add some style to your bikini? Buying a swimming suit with a ruffle is perfect for both of those tasks. Ruffles are a key part of many swimming suits, and they can actually help to add some sun protection for you. Just make sure that you allow them to dry flat.
For a Romantic Look
What could be more romantic than a flowy dress with some ruffles? These are the best dresses to keep around because they are really easy to dress up or down, and they tend to travel extremely well. If you aren’t sure what look you will want to go for on your next trip, this is a great place to start.
At the Office
Want a more romantic look for the office, but don’t want to look too girly? Adding ruffles to a traditional wrap dress in a darker color keeps it appropriate for the board room and a bar for a quick date. In some cases, you may have to add appropriate shoes or ensure that the wrap doesn’t go too low.
With Your Layers
Many people don’t want to wear ruffles because they are afraid that the ruffles will make them look bigger. This isn’t always the case, especially when the ruffles fall in a flattering place. Adding ruffles to the outmost layers of your clothing, like a cardigan, can make you look sleeker and more put together.
