All About Demi Lovato’s Fiancé, Jutes

Demi Lovato has been posting for a while about her fiancé Jutes, born Jordan Lutes, after People confirmed their new relationship in early August 2022. A source at the time said, “It’s a really happy and healthy relationship. He’s a super great guy.”

They went on to get engaged. Here’s everything we know about the happy couple.

The musician hails from from Ottawa, Canada, and he told Nuance Magazine that he studied film before he discovered songwriting while living in Toronto. He signed to Capitol Records before leaving the label two years later to “pursue his own independent artist goals.”

“I left because due to Covid mad budgets got cut, and I guess they didn’t want to hold me and not give me the support I needed, which is so blessed of them to do,” he said. “You hear about labels shelving people or holding them without pushing them so often, and I can’t say how grateful I am that isn’t me… I had been wishing I could be indie again for a while just because I love being totally in charge of my own career, so it worked out quite nicely.”

Both Lovato and Jutes are on sobriety journeys, and he has been quite open about it on social media. In July, he celebrated 100 days sober on Twitter.

“Learning to cope with my anxiety properly was something i was always too scared to try,” he wrote. “Took a long time to be ready but i’ve never felt better mentally and emotionally. if ur dealing with shit rn that feels never ending just know nothing lasts forever.”

A source also told People, “They joke, laugh, talk about their mutual personal problems, and what they overcame as young people in the music business,” the insider said. “He is in awe of her talent and very supportive.”

The couple posts about one another on Instagram a lot.

For Lovato’s 30th birthday, he shared a collection of pictures with the pop star.

“Happy birthday baby. ur a 30 year old minx and i’m the luckiest schmuck in the world cuz i get to call u mine,” Jutes captioned the post. “Making u laugh has become my new obsession bc ur smile literally cures my depression (there’s a song lyric in there somewhere)… I’m so proud of u for not only surviving everything you’ve been through but coming out on top and becoming ur healthiest happiest sweetest self.”

Lovato commented, “YOURE THE BEST BOYFRIEND IN THE WORLD.”

He’s also shared many pics of PDA and clips of Lovato singing.

Jutes co-wrote some of Demi Lovato’s music.

On Lovato’s album Holy Fvck, Jutes is credited as co-writer on tracks “Substance,” “Happy Ending,” and “City of Angels.”

“One of my fav songs i’ve ever worked on,” he wrote in an Instagram post about their collaboration. “When i got asked to pull up and write for this session i remember thinking wtf am i supposed to do in a demi lovato session? only to show up and realize she was making one of the hardest rock projects i’ve ever heard…obviously a crazy milestone for me but beyond that i feel so blessed to be a part of something i’m such a big fan of.”

Lovato and Jutes spent the 2022 holidays together.

On Halloween, they shared their couple’s costume as a zombie bride and groom, and went together to a haunted house in New Orleans.

And they celebrated Christmas Eve at Disneyland, sharing a kiss in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, which was decorated for the holiday.

“Merry Xmas everyone,” Lovato captioned the sweet pics.

The couple went red-carpet official during Grammys 2023 weekend.

The pair showed up in style at Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, making it their red carpet debut. The singer wore a black strapless gown with a structured bodice and a ruffle down one thigh exposing the white satin lining, carried a black clutch, and had her pixie cut slicked back in a wet style. Lovato and Jutes shared a kiss for the cameras, looking very in love.

Her boyfriend wore a classic black suit over a white button down with a long black tie.

Lovato gushed about her relationship on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

On Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, Lovato gushed about Jutes on The Jennifer Hudson Show, sharing that he worked on Lovato’s 2022 album Holy FVCK.

“He actually helped co-write one of my singles, ‘Substance,’ and a few songs on my last album,” she said. “We worked really well together and we are also just super in love, so I’m very happy with him.”

The pop star continued, “It’s amazing to be able to find someone that you just laugh and laugh and with and that you get to make music with. It’s so special, so, I’m very happy.”

Lovato also shared that she helped give her boyfriend a tattoo.

“So my boyfriend was on tour with me, visiting, and we had a tattoo artist there and he wanted to get a tattoo of a song title of mine called, ‘Forever For Me,’ which is a song I wrote about him,” she explained. “And while he was getting tattooed, he was like, ‘I want you to do it.’ I was like, ‘What?’”

She added, “I assisted, I wouldn’t say that I gave the full tattoo, otherwise that would have looked really bad. But I did a good portion of it and it turned out okay.”

In September 2023, Lovato talked about possible marriage during an interview on The Howard Stern Show.

“We’ve talked about it. It’s been about a year and a half [of dating], so we’re taking our time with it a little bit, you know? I think it’s important not to rush that,” the singer said. explained. “I’m in an amazing relationship. My boyfriend is a year older than me, and we’re growing together, and it feels so healthy.”

The pair confirmed they were engaged in December 2023.

On Sunday, December 17, the couple’s reps confirmed to People that they got engaged a day earlier in in Los Angeles. Jutes asked Lovato to marry him with a “bespoke pear-shape diamond solitaire engagement ring” from jewelry boutique Material Good. The couple shared a “personal and intimate proposal” and then had dinner at Craig’s with their families to celebrate.

Soon after, Lovato shared pictures wearing the ring with her new fiancé on Instagram, writing, “I’m still speechless 🥹🥹 last night was the best night of my life and I can’t believe I get to marry the love of my life @jutesmusic. My love, I’m beyond excited to marry you.. every day I’ve spent with you has been a dream come true and I can’t wait to love and cherish you forever. Here’s to the rest of our lives. I love you baby.”

Lovato spoke about wedding planning with Jutes in January 2024.

In an interview with People, Lovato expressed her excitement to plan her wedding to Jutes. She has “definitely” started wedding dress shopping and has a “clear vision” of what she wants for her nuptials. “I’ve been thinking about it and saving them [potential dresses] to my Pinterest profile,” she said. “Doing all the things.”

“I’m excited,” she said. “I’m in the stages of planning and very excited about it.” The couple has been using Pinterest “for all of it.”

Lovato wished Jutes a Happy Birthday in two lovely tribute posts in March 2024.

In the caption of a photo carousel, Lovato wrote, “My angel, I thank the universe everyday that you exist and that I get to marry you someday. I love you, here’s to another year around the sun together.. happy birthday baby.”

In another carousel, Lovato seemed to share the birthday cake, which certainly looked homemade.

Lovato shared an update on their wedding in September 2024, saying neither will be singing at their ceremony.

Lovato appeared on The Tonight Show in mid-September and discussed her wedding plans with Jutes. “We have been planning the wedding for quite some time now,” the singer shared. “We got engaged in December and met with a wedding planner, like, a month later. Yes, I wanted to be ahead of it. I didn’t want to be stressed.”

Neither Lovato nor Jutes will be performing, Lovato added: “I want this to feel not anything like work.”

Jutes revealed more about the proposal in October 2024.

On Oct. 10, Jutes appeared on the Viall Files podcast, who shared he proposed by playing a song on the guitar which ended with, “Will you marry Me?”

“I definitely almost broke down crying a few times,” he said of the big performance. “Basically, I had her team set up some stuff and distract her.”

The musician is not really a guitar player, but he practiced a bunch to prepare. He also shared that Lovato was not expecting a proposal at all though they’d discussed marriage in general.

“I wanted to catch her off guard,” he added. “We had mentioned wanting to be married and stuff like that.”
