Twilight’s Taylor Lautner found his other half in another Taylor. Taylor Dome has officially changed her last name to “Lautner” since their marriage, but to help with some confusion, she’ll be referred here by her maiden name. It’s an issue they deal with themselves, as they’re happy to joke about. In fact, when Lautner appeared in a Taylor Swift music video, the three Taylors recreated the Spider-Man meme about finding your doppëlganger.
The Lautners are very open about their lives and marriage, and even have their own podcast together, The Squeeze. But here’s some info on Dome and how her and Lautner’s marriage came to be.
Who is Taylor Dome?
Dome is a registered nurse, completing her studies in 2019. She has also been working on her profile as an influencer, launching LEMONS by Tay in January 2022, a site dedicated to self-care and mental health.
She was also once a huge Twilight fan. She shared a hilarious throwback photo of herself in November 2020 wearing a Twilight sweatshirt with the hashtag “#tbt #twilightforever.”
In June 2022, she shared a video about who her childhood crush was, and it turns out Dome was once Team Edward.
And yet, she ended up with Jacob Black. Lautner commented on the post, “Bout time I won something.”
How did Lautner and Dome meet?
Dome is a good friend of Makena Moore, Lautner’s sister, and she introduced them.
“My sister Makena actually introduced us,” he said in an interview. “She called me and said, ‘Dude, I found your future wife. You need to meet this girl.’ And the rest is history.”
While doing an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022, he told Clarkson, “It’s just me and my sister so we’re super close, and she always said that she was gonna introduce me to my future wife, and I was like, ‘Sure.’”
At the time of the intro, Lautner had taken a break from acting.
“I wanted to take a step back and enjoy life and spend some time with my family and friends,” he told People. “And I met my fiancée out of it, so it all worked out.”
They connected during a game night, he explained.
“I love game nights. She’s [Moore] like, ‘Throw a game night, invite me and some of my friends over, and I’ll bring Tay. She’ll just be one of them, and you guys can just meet,’” he said. “We hit it off, and the rest is history.”
How long have Lautner and Dome been together?
They shared that they were dating in 2018, and Lautner proposed in November 2021. They were married on November 11, 2022 in at Epoch Estate Wines outside of Paso Robles, California. Lautner wore a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo, and Dome wore a Winnie Couture A-line gown.
Lautner described his proposal to Access Hollywood, saying, “She always has said, ‘I don’t want anything special. I don’t want anything big and grand. Do it in the kitchen…I love cooking, so I make us food all the time in the kitchen and we just eat at the counter. And she’s like, ‘One night after we eat in the kitchen, that’s all I want. Simple.’”
But he couldn’t stop himself from doing a little more.
“I got tons of flowers and candles and a sign. So when she came home at the end of the day, after a long day of work, she walked into that,” he said. “It was a lovely surprise.”
He added, “It actually did take her a little longer than expected to say ‘yes’ because she was weeping so hard. She couldn’t even walk up to me. So I was on my mark and I have to leave the mark to go get her to lift her up from crying … It took a sec, but it was super sweet.”
For Dome’s 26th birthday, Lautner gave her a tattoo session. They got matching tattoos of their wedding date “11.11.22” on their left wrists.
They made their first red carpet appearance together in April 2022, at the CMT Awards.
Why did Dome change her name to Lautner?
On The Kelly Clarkson Show, Lautner shared his wife’s plans to officially change her last name joking, “Cause we already share one name, so it’s gonna be extra complicated,” adding, “I’m a narcissist.”
They stepped out in matching looks at the Rare Impact Awards in October 2023.
On Wednesday, October 4, the two Taylors attended the Inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit which was hosted by Selena Gomez. They wore chic color coordinated outfits in black, with Lautner donning a two piece velvet ensemble with satin details and short sleeves and a pair of matching black shoes. His wife was in a strapless black gown with a thigh-high split up the skirt. She had a black-and-white blazer hung over her shoulders. On her feet were a pair of nude high-heeled sandals.
They celebrated their one year wedding anniversary in 2023.
On Saturday, November 11, the Lautners each posted gushing tributes to one another in celebration of their one year wedding anniversary. Lautner shared a photo of he and Dome walking down the aisle after making their vows, both of them smiling happily.
In the caption, he wrote, “365 days of having the honor to call you my wife. Each day I somehow become a little more grateful. Thank you for putting up with me, I know it ain’t always easy 😉 Love you so much! Let’s crush year 2!”
In the comments, Dome wrote, “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.”
She then added, “MY BEST FRIEND.”
Dome shared her own post on Instagram, a reel of video clips from their wedding weekend set to Taylor Swift’s “You Are in Love (Taylor’s version),” playfully referencing her husband’s ex-girlfriend and current friend. In the clips, the newly wedded couple kiss, dance together, and look like they’re enjoying themselves a whole lot.
“My bestest friend, happy 1 year wedding anniversary!” Dome wrote in the caption. “Being your wife is my absolute favorite thing. I never thought I’d find a love like yours.”
He then commented, “I love you… but nobody needed to see me unleash my hips like that.”
Dome shared why she and Lautner are not ready to have children yet in March 2024.
In a March 23 interview with Us Weekly, Dome discussed their stance on starting a family. “Sometimes we get a little nervous,” she said. “How do we raise kids [who] are going to be able to speak up for themselves or feel like they can talk to us about this? It scares me. How do you raise a child now? I’m very thankful for people like Dr. [Daniel] Amen and a lot of my friends have kids or are just having kids. Getting to watch them walk through it and having the support from people like Dr. Amen to help facilitate independence or whatever it may be is great.” She added that while not now, “definitely [at] some time at some point, there will be [kids].”
She also discussed how they are doing one year into marriage, praising her husband’s communication skills. “That is something we’ve had to work on,” she said. “We’ve been through a lot. People always say, ‘How’s the first year of marriage?’ And we’re like, ‘You know, it’s actually great.’ We’ve been through so much life together already so we’ve learned how Taylor communicates, how I communicate and that’s just the biggest thing. When we do have a disagreement, we’re able to communicate. Like, I can’t process things right away, whereas Taylor knows what he wants so he’s able to be like, ‘OK, let’s come back to this in a little bit. I know you don’t know what’s going on so we can come back to it.’”
