Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin have purposely been trying not to post anything eyebrow-raising on social media after his ex Selena Gomez released her second breakup song believed to be about the Biebs, “Look at Her Now,” at midnight. E! spoke to a source about the Biebers’ feelings about Gomez’s two new tracks, particularly her first single “Lose You to Love Me.” In that song, Gomez lyrically called out Bieber for moving on with Baldwin two months after ending his relationship with her (“You turned me down, and now it’s showing / In two months you replaced us / Like it was easy”).
Baldwin and Bieber don’t want to post any public responses to the tracks. “Of course Justin and Hailey have heard Selena’s new song, and they are both trying to not give any reaction to her lyrics referencing Justin,” E!’s source explained. “It isn’t ideal for Hailey, but she understands the creative process of writing music and that Justin had a past. Justin has completely moved on from that chapter of his life and understands that Selena is allowed to reflect on the past in her own way. Justin and Hailey both want Selena to be happy and in a good place and aren’t fazed by it.”
Baldwin initially sparked a little drama when Selena Gomez fans saw the Instagram Story Baldwin posted of herself listening to Summer Walker’s “I’ll Kill You” minutes after Gomez’s first single was released. They took it as a threat to Gomez, but Baldwin later denied it had anything to do with the singer. Hours later, Gomez urged her fans not to drag Baldwin. “I do not stand for women tearing women down,” Gomez said on her Instagram Live. “And I will never, ever be by that. So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is. If you’re my fans, don’t be rude to anybody, please.”
Bieber and Baldwin haven’t posted anything remotely splashy since Gomez’s second song came out. Bieber shared a Drew House video, and Baldwin posted some Instagram Stories of fall foliage.
