Who could pull off a pair of shorts with a Chanel tweed jacket on the red carpet? Kristen Stewart, of course. The actress attended the Deauville American Film Festival in France on Saturday wearing white shorts, patent leather boots, and a tweed Chanel jacket. She also showed off her newly-dyed pink hair.
At the festival she shared her excitement over joining the new Charlie’s Angel film, saying she grew up with the 2000 film starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu.
“I wanted to join that team. It was kitschy and fun, and there’s a supportive power-in-numbers thing that is really reassuring and warm,” she said. “It’s just a really nice time to tell a story that feels feminine and silly, but also really grounded in a way that feels united.”
While discussing the girl power sentiment of the upcoming film, she also shared that the movie will be coming at a perfect time in light of the #MeToo movement.
“This whole thing of, if we are all equal then why can’t we be open about everything? Because we are not the same – men and women are not the same, like the way we communicate, our strengths are different – so to not acknowledge that distinction accordingly, mutually, to each other, it just makes for bad work,” she explained. “It’s really clear when people balk at the #MeToo movement that they probably have done something that they are feeling a little guilty about.”
