For the last week, news has circulated that Lori Loughlin’s daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella Giannulli had dropped out of the University of Southern California in the wake of the college admissions cheating scandal their parents were indicted in. But NBC News reports that actually, the two girls are still enrolled students there (at least technically), straight from a USC rep.
“We have confirmed that both Olivia Giannulli and Isabella Giannulli still are enrolled,” USC media relations specialist Ron Mackovich told the outlet in a statement. “USC is conducting a case-by-case review for current students and graduates that may be connected to the scheme alleged by the government and will make informed decisions as those reviews are completed.”
In the case of Olivia Jade and Isabella, Loughlin and their dad Mossimo Giannulli were arrested for allegedly paying $500,000 to make it appear that both girls had been coxswain recruits for the rowing team to guarantee their admission to the university. They were released on $1 million bond each and will appear again in court on April 3.
While the two girls may be students at the university officially, the two are said to not be there right now even though school is in session. Multiple outlets published reports last week about how the girls were not at classes, had no plans to go back to campus, and were laying low.
“Although classes have resumed at USC, Olivia and Bella are not back at school,” a source told People four days ago. “They don’t plan to return to USC. Right now, they are just focused on getting through this ordeal.”
“The girls are not talking about future plans. They are more focused on what’s next for their parents,” the source continued “They are living in the moment and that’s all they can do right now. For them, this is all still a nightmare.”
Entertainment Tonight was told by a source that the girls “are afraid of being kicked out of school and will likely not return on their own.”
E! reported three days ago that Olivia Jade at least has no plans to return to college. “Olivia Jade has decided to not return to USC and wants to take a full break from going back to school,” a source told the outlet. “She is very distraught and is in crisis mode.”
Right now, Loughlin and Olivia Jade “have been spending their days very upset and stressed being cooped up,” E!’s source said.
