The teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action Mulan is here!
The minute-and-a-half clip promises an action-packed film, which is expected to hit theaters in March 27, 2020. Disney found its real-life Mulan in Chinese actress Liu Yifei, who reportedly beat 1,000 other potential actresses for the role.
“Honestly, I think there are many celebrities out there who are prettier than me,” she told Cosmopolitan Korea in 2016. “As an actress, it’s not only about looking good on camera, but being able to deliver the right emotions for the characters you play. This makes you more attractive on the screen. That’s why I focus more on acting rather than my appearance.”
The upcoming film is part of a string of Disney’s live-action remakes of its animated classics. The Guy Ritchie-directed Aladdin, which stars Will Smith, is out now and has already grossed over $900 million at the box office. Disney also recently announced that it has cast its real-life Ariel in the upcoming The Little Mermaid remake, which will star Beyoncé-approved singer-actress Halle Bailey.
Later this month The Lion King, starring big-names like Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, and John Oliver will hit the big screen, and undoubtedly deliver big numbers from fans.
While Mulan is still well over a year away, Disney is offering plenty of soon-to-be-classics to satiate audiences until then.
