Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s summer romance made it to the MTV VMAs on stage and off. The couple didn’t kissed, but they’ve been super handsy and cuddly during the entire broadcast. In the audience, Mendes had his arm wrapped around Cabello:
They also held onto each other when they were officially photographed:
When they won the VMAs for Best Collaboration, the two held hands walking up to the stage. They didn’t kiss but kept pretty close the entire time. When they went backstage, they were holding hands again:
Mendes and Cabello chose to walk the red carpet separately. When they performed “Señorita” on stage, they almost kissed but held back. Backstage, their personal PDA resumed though: They held hands and cuddled.
Their outing tonight comes after they were filmed making out in New York City’s Extra Virgin restaurant yesterday. And last week, the two had their very first restaurant makeout session ever in Montreal. They’ve also kissed in pools and oceans this summer.
Their romance originally had started as a fling, and then it became more, Entertainment Tonight was told last month. A source explained that “Shawn and Camila originally were just enjoying spending time together and having a summer fling. Camila had just got out of a relationship and Shawn was in the middle of a massive tour.” But then they caught feelings, the source said. “Shawn and Camila have really fallen for one another.”
Mendes and Cabello just celebrated their single “Señorita” topping the Billboard Hot 100 today. The two expressed their joy and gratitude to Billboard.
“I’m so excited about the success of ‘Señorita,’ and thank you so much to our incredible fans who made this all a reality,” Mendes said. “We really put everything into this song and couldn’t have wished for more.”
“Thank you to our fans; we could not have done this without you,” Cabello said. “We are so grateful and I’m so happy to share this moment with Shawn.”
The two are both up for VMA awards tonight. Mendes is nominated for Artist of the Year. He and Cabello are nominated for Best Collaboration (“Señorita”), Best Art Direction (for their “Señorita” music video), Best Choreography (for their “Señorita” music video), and Best Cinematography (“Señorita”).
