Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn, the ultra-private couple of two years, didn’t make their red carpet debut at the Oscars or at the Vanity Fair after party. But they were still together last night at the Vanity Fair party—and party-goers documented it.
The two attended their first Oscars after party in a low-key way. Alwyn posed on the red carpet. Swift did not but was seen alongside him inside the event. A guest took a video of Swift putting her arm on him—a rare glimpse of PDA from the two. And Variety also got a shot of Swift at the party on their Instagram Story. She has the ponytail in the back, and you can tell by the glisten of her dress that it’s the same Ralph & Russo gold number she teased on her Instagram earlier in the night. She posted it right after the Oscars because a look that good needs to be seen, after all:
It’s not entirely surprising that Swift and Alwyn ultimately decided not to make their red carpet debut at the Oscars this year. Swift let Alwyn keep the spotlight throughout his first Oscars night. She continued being a supportive girlfriend the same way she has been throughout award season: by staying off the red carpet and just attending the after parties with him more privately.
Previously, Swift made a surprise appearance during the Golden Globes to present an award. While she didn’t walk the carpet with Alwyn then, she did attend multiple after parties with him. Alwyn and Swift were seen kissing at one by a partygoer, who tweeted about it.
Then, Swift joined Alwyn at the BAFTA Awards’ after party. Swift was shooting Cats in London during the day but was able to end the night with him and his award-winning co-stars, who took home the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film. At the dinner, Swift and Alwyn were photographed being very affectionate by The Sun reporter Dan Wootton. They did not officially pose together on the red carpet though or take any formal photos together.
Most recently, Swift was at an Oscars pre-party with Alwyn on Friday. Again, guests got photos of Swift with Alwyn at the party, but they did no red carpet together.
Last night was big for Alwyn and his The Favourite co-stars. While Alwyn himself does not have any individual Oscar nominations, The Favourite has several ensemble nominations, including one for Best Picture, and its star Olivia Colman won Best Actress.
