The mystery behind Meghan Markle’s new ring has been solved. During her first public appearance at Trooping the Colour earlier this month, a new band on Meghan’s ring finger had many royal fans wondering what the meaning was behind her new accessory. According to Harper’s Bazaar U.K., the eternity ring was a special gift from Prince Harry in honor of their anniversary and growing family.
Harry worked personally on the bespoke Lorraine Schwartz ring, which includes birthstones for Meghan, Archie, and himself on the underside of the band.
“Meghan was touched,” a source told the magazine. “A lot of thought went into it.”
Harry also had Meghan’s engagement ring resized and reset with a new diamond band.
Meghan has been keeping a low-profile since giving birth to her first child, Archie, on May 6. She made her first public appearance during Trooping the Colour in early June, joining the rest of the royal family for the annual celebration.
She also made a surprise public appearance in honor of the London Series baseball game, meeting with both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees teams, who brought special onesies for the new baby. Meghan and Harry even joined in the first pitch for the game at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
According to People, the royal couple spoke with new mother Bianca Rainbow-Jones and her slightly fussy 9-month-old baby.
“We talked babies!” she said. “They said, ‘We’ve just left [the screaming] – we had that about an hour before we came here!’”
She added: “Harry said they had a sleepless night.”
