If your life has a hole where new seasons of Big Little Lies or Succession should be, look no further. The first teaser trailer for The Undoing, a six-part limited series reuniting BLL star Nicole Kidman with creator David E. Kelley, is here to fill the void.
The psychological thriller is based on the Jean Hanff Korelitz novel You Should Have Known and co-stars Hugh Grant, Donald Sutherland, Edgar Ramirez, Lily Rabe, and Honey Boy‘s Noah Jupe. Susanne Bier (The Night Manager) directs the series, which follows Kidman’s Grace Fraser, an Upper East Side therapist with inner demons of her own.
Uncertainty is in the air as Grace realizes the perfect life she’s always wanted is suddenly slipping further from her grasp. An official synopsis, per IndieWire, reads:
“The limited series The Undoing stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant as Grace and Jonathan Fraser, who are living the only lives they ever wanted for themselves. Overnight a chasm opens in their lives: a violent death and a chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child (Jupe) and her family.”
“Exactly how weak do you think I am?” Kidman’s character asks at the end of the tension-filled teaser. And when it comes to juicy HBO dramas following the rich and troubled, who doesn’t have a weak spot? The Undoing airs in May 2020.
