Spring is well and truly on its way, with lighter evenings, warmer temperatures and a lot more sunshine than we have been used to over the long, cold winter. While for some of you it might feel as though you are still trapped in a long, cold winter take heart, spring is definitely on its way. I do not know about you, but spring and summer bring a whole different dynamic to my make up bag. While winter is all about coverage, dark and smokey eyes and pretty much making yourself up as much as possible, Spring is about new beginnings, light fresh make up and neutral tones.

 

Let’s start with foundation…

Right, it is time to shelve that heavy coverage foundation that you wore all through the winter time. Yes we know it covers a multitude of sins and yes we also know that it is the only thing that kept you from looking totally washed out this winter, but for spring we are going light and airy. Try a light coverage BB cream. It will still give you that dewy glow and that made up look but it will also let your skin breathe and keep your skin looking light and fresh.

 

Pick yourself a nice powder…

If you tend to get a tan at the first sign of sunshine it might be time to invest in a face powder that is a little different to your usual winter powder. Whatever the color, a face powder is perfect so summer days when you do not need to wear anything other than just that. It also works brilliantly for settling your BB cream and face make up.

 

Dial down the mascara…

Honestly, we get the idea, but nobody loves seeing awful spider-type lashes, so think about dialling down your mascara application. Maybe you might want to think about toning down the jet black mascara for a softer brown.

 

Blush, Blush, Blush…

Yes you probably gave yourself a healthy application of blush throughout the winter months and that’s fine, gives you that healthy, rosy cheeked glow. Summer is no different, add some cream blush to your make up bag and get that rosy cheeked, summer fresh glow. Maybe you might want to pick a soft pink color blush so you do not look to overly made up.
