Planning to attend a wedding and in a fix to decide what to wear? Obviously the trends and rules vary with the time of the wedding, whether they are formal/ informal, season, location and so on. As you know the rules also keep on changing here are a few tips that might be helpful while you are dressing up for a wedding.
It is perfectly fine if you wish to wear black to a wedding. You just need to have a perfect dress and you can add on some colorful jewelry. These days it is more about the cut and design of the dress and its material rather than the color. But if the bride and groom happen to be too traditional you might want to avoid black as they will get distracted to see their guests wearing a black. There is no such rule for not wearing white but just out of etiquette white is not worn as to avoid competing with the bride on her grand day. Any other color will suit just fine.
Short dresses or suit are a nice choice for a day time wedding whereas a cocktail dress is will be more appropriate for an evening wedding. Overly sexy clothing is not suggested for the weddings, you may want to wear something that gives you more of a feminine look. Soft and pastel colors for a day time wedding and dark colors for evening weddings are more appropriate. For the day time casual weddings you may choose a pretty sun dress but avoid wearing jeans or shorts. You may wear opera gloves with sleeveless and strapless gowns but not with anything else. You can finish you look with elegant jewelry and a small glittering clutch.
You can just use a bit of judgment as to the kind of wedding you are attending and accordingly decide your attire for the occasion.
