People got some additional details on the Caribbean vacation thatTaylor Swift and her friends took during the Fourth of July holiday—and how it really wasn’t planned as a dramatic escape from the continental states after she posted her Scooter Braun letter.
In the Tumblr blog post, Swift called Scooter Braun acquiring her music catalog (through his Big Machine Label purchase) the “worst case scenario” because of “the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.” That sparked many heated reactions online and some celebrities taking Braun’s side over Swift’s.
But Swift’s trip to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands was booked for a much lighter reason. “Taylor loves a good sun vacation,” People‘s source said. “One of her favorite spots to visit is the Caribbean islands. She has been many times in the past, and her July 4th vacation was long-planned. It had nothing to do with her getting away from any drama.”
Swift was photographed leaving the Caribbean with her group earlier this week; they arrived there on July 2, so Swift’s annual acclaimed Taymerica Fourth of July party didn’t happen at her home in Rhode Island this year.
Swift is set to headline Amazon’s Prime Day concert tomorrow.
Last week, E! spoke to a source about how Swift feels about the response to her letter. She has no regrets: “Taylor doesn’t care if she has enemies and if all of Scooter’s friends support him,” its source said. “She knows what his intentions are and why he did this. She has her friends who will stand by and support her, too. She feels very strongly about this, and standing up to Scooter.”
