If you have been paying attention to Paris Fashion Week, you may have noticed that there is a dominating trend amongst attendees and even on the catwalks themselves: chain mail. This trend comes around every so often and as technology improves, we find new ways to wear it and bring it into our personal styles.
Once used as a way to protect yourself in battle, it now can be worn by fashionistas in the boardroom, on a date, or even in a casual setting. Want to get the look? Here are some of our suggestions:
Cocktail Hour
One of the best ways to embrace the chain mail trend is to wear it in a style that is almost directly opposite from why it was created: for cocktail hour. A black dress with chainmail details can set you apart from everyone else there in their LBD but still make you feel comfortable.
Even better, you can play up those details or you can try to camouflage those a bit – it is all up to you.
Handbag Style
If you aren’t interested in wearing actual chainmail and the print isn’t your style, you want the hardware, you may consider embracing it in your handbag. A bag made out of chainmail has popped up throughout the years in different styles. For now, pick one with a smaller weave or you will end up losing some of your most important items.
Jewelry
The most common selection for people who are looking to add chainmail to their wardrobe? Jewelry! By selecting a necklace that looks like chain mail or a statement earring, you can still bring it into your wardrobe without having to commit to wearing something that might feel out of place at your job, for example.
On Your Feet
Want to add some edge to any outfit? Buy some boots that have chain mail on them. This is probably the most common way to see chainmail over the last few years, and there will only be more boots, heels, and even loafers with chainmail details.
Of course, there are so many ways that you can play this style, so you don’t have to worry about going overboard or being too out there with the tie die. After all, it is just about having fun – just make sure you don’t wear it on a day that is too cold or you might feel it all day.
Will you go to battle for chainmail after PFW?
