This whole freezing-cold-temperatures, closed-toed-shoe, ear-muffs-and-gloves Winter thing might be starting to wear on your nerves now that the festive season has passed. We feel ya! With each passing day, we look forward to seeing new buds on the trees, feeling the warmth of the sun on our non-jacket-covered shoulders, and strutting our fresh and happy pedicures in all the best that Spring shoe trends have to offer! Take a look at our list for what will be some of 2016’s most wanted styles and see if you might have room in your closet for one or two (or all) if them!
- The gladiator – 2016 has given gladiator sandals a fresh and much more wearable edge. It’s pretty obvious that not many of us have the opportunity (or desire) to wear knee-high variety from seasons past (thank goodness). This year’s versions showcase more delicate and colorful styles like this, this, and this. If you’re in the mood for something with a bit more heel, these also incorporate two other Spring shoe trends…the lace-up and the block heel.
- Pointed-toe low heels – What you might be missing in height, you will make up for with the toe. One of the best shoe style tips is that a pointed toe always helps to elongate the look of the leg, even when working with flats. No matter if you opt for true flats like this and this, kitten heels like this and this, or even wedges like these, your shoe game will definitely be on point!
- White shoes – Yes, white shoes can be a bit more challenging to keep clean. The good news is that we aren’t six years old anymore and aren’t running through playgrounds or neighborhoods, with not even a fleeting thought given to the state of our shoes. As responsible fashionistas, we take great pride in our shoes…so embrace the white shoe trend for Spring! Why not try these strappy wedges, or these sexy open-toed dress sandals, these beautiful high-heel open-toed mules, or even these lace sneakers!
- Slip-ons – Don’t call them “slippers.” Spring 2016’s versions of slip-ons are casual but never sloppy. They are perfect for style and comfort when you’re on-the-go. You can go for a beachy feel, like these…or a slightly more posh leather look found in these…or even these classics reminiscent of clogs.
- Oxford flats – Also called “brogues,” these are part of the always-present menswear trends that seem to circulate through the years. 2016’s Oxford flats are classy, with a refined, tailored feel. Of course, you can grab some with a little more edge, like these Doc Martens, or this unique leather and suede version, or stick with the more classic variety like these and these.
- Block heels – Block heels are back, and for good reason, since they provide height with comfort. This year’s versions, though, add in a good amount of sex appeal that may have been missing years past. For example, these bold block heels from Calvin Klein and Donald J. Pliner! There are also sexy strappy versions, like these and these (which also play up the trends of gladiator sandals and lace-up flats). You can even try on a pair that have that always-trendy bootie feel, like these!
- Ankle lace-up flats – You might have seen a hint of this budding trend blooming over the Summer months of 2015, but they are going to be full-on huge for Spring for 2016. The lace-up flat is comfort meets delicacy, and they are so versatile! They look fab with everything from shorts to skirts to cropped trousers and jeans, so you’d be well smart to snap up a pair…or two! Leading contenders include these with just a little bit of lacing, these with more than a bit of lacing, these with a sling-back lacing, and these with an intricate lacing. So beautiful!
